About the Project

Di Antara Dua Dunia is an expository documentary created as my Final Project and a requirement for completing my Bachelor's degree at UBSI. The documentary explores the lives and cultural roles of young abdi dalem niyaga at Keraton Surakarta Hadiningrat, highlighting their efforts to preserve traditional culture in the modern era.

I served as the Director and Editor, taking part in the entire production process from pre-production to post-production. In addition to developing the creative direction, I was involved in managing accommodation, transportation, production permits, and finding interview subjects, working closely with the Producer and production team.

The project was prepared over approximately one month, followed by three days of shooting and approximately three weeks of editing. This project allowed me to oversee the documentary's creative and technical process from initial planning to the final cut.

My Responsibilities

• Directed the documentary and developed its overall creative vision.
• Developed the narrative structure and visual approach of the documentary.
• Handled production planning, including accommodation, transportation, and permits.
• Assisted in finding and coordinating interview subjects with the Producer.
• Guided interviews, subject direction, and on-location production.
• Edited the documentary from raw footage to the final cut using Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Shaped the pacing, visual continuity, voice-over, music, and sound design.
• Ensured the final film effectively communicated its cultural message.
